Our Building Project

The Plan

West Ardsley Methodist Church is beginning an exciting renovation project to ensure our buildings can continue serving the community for generations to come. Our chapel and kitchen are almost 170 years old, and although we have made improvements over the years, they are now becoming difficult to maintain and are not energy efficient.

With growing demand for the Food Pantry, Mosaic Café and our many community groups, space is increasingly limited and storage is spilling into hallways and shared rooms. The refurbishment will repair and reconfigure our spaces, improve accessibility, add much needed storage, and create welcoming areas for quiet conversation, prayer and support - needs that were clearly highlighted in our community survey.

These improvements will help us expand what we already do well and open the door to new opportunities. By creating flexible rooms, improving kitchen and toilet facilities, and installing energy efficient systems such as insulation, LED lighting and solar panels, we will be able to host more community events, offer additional activities, and provide a warmer, more comfortable environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

This project will allow us to make optimal use of our church and community rooms, enabling us to expand the variety of worship styles we can offer, grow our outreach and discipleship, and further develop relationships with our community. This renovation is not just about a building — it’s about strengthening the heart of West Ardsley and creating spaces where people can gather, belong and thrive.

Fundraising Progress

The full project will cost £453,180. We’ve already received support from the Methodist Church and are applying for additional grants, but as a congregation we’ve also committed to raising 20% (£90,635) locally.

Throughout the year we’ll be holding a series of fundraising events, and as part of that effort, a group of us will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 2 May 2026.

Future Events

Before we close our doors for an exciting period of renovation, over the next six months we’re organising a variety of fundraising events.

These events are all about giving you the chance to come and see what’s planned, take part in something enjoyable, and help support our building project at the same time.

Whether you’re keen to get involved, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a great event for a good cause, we hope there’s something here for everyone and we’d love to see you there.
